Vol. 372 No. 11

Written Answers. - Decentralisation Programme.

37.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the sections of his Department in which it is proposed to transfer to different parts of the country under the decentralisation programme; the number and grades of staff involved; the locations to which they will be sent; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The implementation of the Government's decentralisation proposals in so far as they relate to my Department are still under examination.

My Department is already decentralised to a considerable degree and there have been significant changes made in recent years both as to structure of the organisation and the way in which it delivers its services. The setting up of an executive office with responsibility for the delivery of services and the massive programme of computerisation are factors which have a considerable bearing on any further reorganisation of the Department.
