Vol. 372 No. 13

Written Answers. - Health Capital Programme.

278.

asked the Minister for Health if he will give a breakdown of the allocations and projected allocations from the capital programme of his Department for 1987 of £59.563 millions, stating the specific projects on which the money will be spent and the specific amount involved in each case, and in the case of projects involving a time span beyond 1987, the amount already expended and the projected expenditure for all the years up to 1991 where relevant.

The Exchequer capital allocation for health in 1987 is £57.563 million and it is not now expected that there will be any addition to this figure from non-Exchequer sources. The health capital programme is currently being reviewed in my Department and it is not possible at this stage to give a distribution by project of the Exchequer allocation.

The amounts which have been spent to date on the major projects that are included in the capital programme are as follows:

The estimated expenditure on the major projects in the period up to 1991 will depend on several factors, including the amount of capital funding that is likely to be available in these years and the rate of progress that can be achieved in the building and equipping work associated with the projects. I am not in a position at present to give an accurate estimate of projected expenditure by project for the period in question.
