Vol. 372 No. 13

Written Answers. - Lucan (Dublin) By-Pass.

186.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he is aware of the difficulties that have arisen in relation to an access road to the Lucan by-pass County Dublin in the vicinity of Esker Lane; if he is aware that the only non-contentious access proposal is one which would extend Esker Lane via Willsbrook townland to intersect with the Lucan by-pass at the overhead bridge at present under construction at Ballydowd; if he will therefore give his consent to this proposal; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am aware that Dublin County Council has examined the question of providing an alternative access from the Esker area to the Lucan by-pass arising from its decision not to proceed with a link, through lands reserved for that purpose at Esker Park, which had originally been proposed by the local authority and approved by my Department. The local authority has been informed that the cost of any alternative link would not be eligible for specific road grant assistance. My consent to such an alternative does not, therefore, arise.
