I have examined the review of the Unfair Dismissals Act, 1977 undertaken by my Department.
It is my intention that the issues arising in this and in a number of other areas should form the basis for a discussion document which I propose to have published in September next.
The discussion document will explore a variety of options for amendment of existing legislation. I will be seeking the views of all interested parties on the proposals. Following examination of the views received I will consider what legislative amendments are necessary.
