asked the Minister for Health if children who receive vaccinations are being monitored after their treatment, and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Department of Health operate a system to monitor apparent serious adverse reactions to vaccinations. Under the system the vaccinating doctor reports an apparent, serious adverse reaction to a vaccination, to the local Director of Community Care and Medical Officer of Health. All apparent serious adverse reactions are reported to the Department of Health.

asked the Minister for Health the details, if any, he has of the number of children vaccinated in the recent measles campaign, who had subsequently to receive medical treatment for multiple physical disorders including asthma.

There has been no serious long term adverse reaction to measles vaccination.

Care has been taken to monitor any possible adverse reactions to the measles vaccination. In all six possible adverse reactions requiring medical review were reported. These were fully investigated by the Director of Community Care/ Medical Officer of Health and required only short term medical attention before they cleared up.
