asked the Minister for Justice when it is proposed to release a person (details supplied) in Dublin 9 on full temporary release or parole in view of his good prison record for the term served and job availability outside prison in the light of the favourable reports from the prison welfare service and prison authorities.

The offender in question is serving a 12 year sentence for very serious crimes. Taking remission into account, he is not due for release in the normal way until 4 December 1987.
Measures that might be helpful in assisting the re-integration of the offender into society are at present under consideration in the light of all the circumstances of the case. It will be appreciated of course that the overriding concern in this, as in all cases, must be the protection of the public.
