Vol. 373 No. 4

Written Answers. - Tax Incentives.

105.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the way in which the Industrial Development Authority has implemented the Government decisions in paragraph 5.31 of the White Paper on Industrial Policy to vigorously market the incentive provided by section 34 of the Finance Act, 1973, for inventions.

I am informed by the Industrial Development Authority that information on the tax incentive available under section 34 of the Finance Act, 1973, is included in its promotional literature and in a specialised booklet on licensing which is disseminated to interested parties through its network of one-stop-shops. The availability of the incentive is also brought to the attention of overseas companies likely to establish new plants in Ireland. The incentive is also actively promoted by the Institute for Industrial Research and Standards through seminars and publications and through contact with companies and patent agents.
