Vol. 373 No. 5

Written Answers. - Tax-Free Allowance.

24.

asked the Minister for Finance the reason the correct tax-free allowance was not issued to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

The Revenue Commissioners have advised me that the certificate of tax-free allowances for the current year, which was issued to the taxpayer on 16 February 1987, erroneously omitted the PAYE allowance of £700. An amended certificate incorporating this allowance will be issued to the taxpayer shortly and any tax which has been over-deducted from her pay since 6 April 1987 will be refunded to her by her employer when the amended certificate is put into operation.

The inspector of taxes will now write to the taxpayer requesting the details which are necessary to enable a review of her liability for 1986-87 to be carried out.
