Vol. 373 No. 12

Written Answers. - Health Contribution Deduction.

150.

asked the Minister for Health the reason a health contribution is deducted from the UK Department of Health and Social Security and merchant navy pension of a person (details supplied) in Dublin 15, when Irish pensions are not liable to such deductions; and if he will take steps to eliminate this anomaly.

The person referred to in the question has income assessable to income tax in this country. Under the provisions of the Health Contributions Act, 1979, he is liable for payment of health contributions on that income.
