Vol. 374 No. 3

Written Answers. - Courtown (Wexford) Harbour.

70.

asked the Minister for the Marine the reason Wexford County Council, who undertook works costing approximately £90,000 last year at Courtown Harbour on the understanding of a 50 per cent recoupment from his Department, have not yet been paid.

There is no record in my Department of any commitment or undertaking, verbal or otherwise, having been given to Wexford County Council in connection with grant aid in respect of the works in question.

Wexford County Council has recently applied for grant aid in respect of works completed at Courtown Harbour at a cost of £90,000 and this application is being examined. I should add that Wexford County Council are aware that it is the policy of my Department to contribute to harbour development work only where grant has been approved before work commences.
