Vol. 374 No. 7

Written Answers. - Wexford Housing.

165.

asked the Minister for the Environment the provision, if any, he intends to make to alleviate the housing shortage in Wexford town, as no new house starts are scheduled for next year; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I presume the Deputy is referring to the capital allocation to Wexford Corporation for its housing construction programme in 1988.

I am not in a position at this stage to indicate what capital will be made available to Wexford Corporation (or any housing authority) for housing construction next year.

The allocation made to any housing authority will depend on the capital claims by the various authorities and the relative needs of the various areas in the light of the overall capital available.
