Vol. 374 No. 8

Written Answers. - School Transfer Certificate.

93.

asked the Minister for Education the reason a person (details supplied) in Dublin 24 was refused a transfer certificate in respect of her son from a school (details supplied) in Dublin 24.

In accordance with the provisions of the School Attendance Act, 1926 when a child is removed from a national school, the principal teacher of such school shall, on demand, give to the parent of such child a certificate containing certain details as to the child's age, attendance and so on. The Act explicitly states that the absence of the certificate would not prevent the transfer of the child. I will communicate again with the Deputy when my Department's inquiries in the case have been completed.
