asked the Minister for Education the number of teachers at present approved for the Sacred Heart, national school, Huntstown, Dublin 15; the amount by which it is now proposed to reduce this number and when such reduction will become operative; and the pupil-teacher ratio before and after this reduction is made.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 197, 198 and 200 together.
The latest enrolment figures supplied by the school are 431 for the quarter ended 30 September 1987 and a projected enrolment of 570 for September 1988. Projections for later years have not been received.
The school currently has a staff of principal and 13 assistants. The position of the school under the new schedule of averages applicable from 1 January 1988 will not be determined until the school returns of averages for the quarter ended 31 December 1987 are available in January 1988. My Department will then communicate with the authorities of the school in the matter.

I am not in a position to allocate moneys in 1988 for the building of this school.

I would refer the Deputy to my reply of 3 June 1987, No. 299. There is adequate accommodation in the school for the prospective enrolment next September, as estimated by the school authorities.
