Vol. 375 No. 3

Written Answers. - Garda Foot Patrols.

71.

asked the Minister for Justice if, in view of the number of raids on the local post office in west Finglas, Dublin 11, he will arrange for additional foot patrols in the vicinity.

The precise arrangements for the policing of particular areas are a matter for the Garda authorities who have informed me that the area in question is receiving as much Garda attention as is practicable from foot patrols having regard to other commitments. The area also receives attention from mobile patrols, both uniform and plain clothes, on a regular basis.

As regards the incidence of robberies at Cappagh post office, the Garda authotities state that a person has been convicted in respect of one robbery there and sentenced to three years imprisonment. The other robberies are under active investigation and every effort is being made to bring the culprits to justice.
