Vol. 375 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dún Laoghaire Unemployment Statistics.

5.

asked the Taoiseach the figures for unemployment in the Dún Laoghaire area of County Dublin for the years 1984, to the latest date available, on an annual basis.

A special analysis of the live register according to area of residence is carried out quarterly for the months of February, May, August and November. I propose to circulate in the Official Report a statement showing the number of persons on the live register who were residing in Dún Laoghaire Borough on the date of each analysis from 17 February 1984 to 21 August 1987 the latest date for which figures are available.

Following is the statement:

The unemployment figures for Dún Laoghaire will be disturbing when they are circulated. Can I ask the Taoiseach what urgent plans are being undertaken to introduce a harbour Bill or for the development of Dún Laoghaire harbour which is one of the greatest job creation sources we have and which is not being developed at the moment?

The Deputy is raising specific matters worthy of separate questions. This is essentially a statistical reply.
