asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if any prosecutions have been brought, since their enactment, for offences committed under the Sale of Goods and Supply of Services Act, 1980 or of the Consumer Information Act; and, if so, if he will indicate in each case which provisions of the Acts were deemed to have been breached.

To date no prosecutions have been taken by myself or the Director of Consumer Affairs under the Sale of Goods and Supply of Services Act, 1980.

In relation to the Consumer Information Act, 1978, I would point out that the enforcement function is vested in the Minister for Industry and Commerce, the Director of Consumer Affairs and Local Authorities. The Director and the local authorities act independently in the exercise of this function. So far as I have been able to ascertain the following prosecutions have been taken:
