Vol. 375 No. 7

Written Answers. - Tax Rebate.

29.

asked the Minister for Finance when a tax rebate will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

The Revenue Commissioners have advised me that a refund of tax will be made to the taxpayer's spouse as quickly as possible and that a letter to that effect has already been addressed to the Deputy by the Inspector of Taxes.

asked the Minister for Finance the reason a tax allowance for medical expenses has not yet been allowed to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick; and when the allowance will be given.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissionrs that an amount in settlement of the taxpayer's claim for repayment of tax in respect of medical expenses incurred in 1986-87 was included in a review of his liability for that year which was recently carried out. Details of the review have been issued to the taxpayer and a cheque in settlement of the refund due will be issued to the taxpayer as soon as possible.

I understand that the Deputy was advised of the position when he telephoned the tax office on 16 November 1987.
