The revised pupil-teacher ratio for second level vocational schools will operate from 1 September, 1988. Teaching staff allocations for the 1988-89 school-year will be determined by reference to that ratio and will be notified to the vocational education committees early in the new year. The means envisaged to reduce staff numbers, where necessary, include natural wastage, redeployment, career breaks, job-sharing and the application of the voluntary redundancy scheme.
