The revised average live register total for 1987 is 247,200. The live register average underlying the abridged 1988 Book of Estimates is 256,000.
The estimated related expenditure from the Department of Social Welfare Vote is £650 million for 1987 and £664 million for 1988 including pay-related benefit.
