asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the present position regarding a sheep headage payment for a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

Payment of sheep headage grants under the disadvantaged areas scheme will be considered when the person named who rents but does not own land, satisfies my Department that he is in a position to honour the undertaking that he will continue farming activities in a designated area for at least five years. Grants under the ewe premium scheme will, however, be paid to him shortly.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the present position regarding payment to a person (details supplied) in County Waterford in respect of approximately 20 suckler cows claimed for in 1986.

The person named has an off-farm income and has been requested to produce his income tax assessment for tax year ended 5 April 1986 to establish whether his farm income is greater than his off-farm income. When he does so, the question of the payment of grants under the 1986 suckler cow scheme which is confined to full time farmers will be considered further.
