Vol. 376 No. 9

Written Answers. - Cost per Unit of Electricity.

129.

asked the Minister for Energy the cost per unit of electricity generated in each of the producing stations per category at present; the estimated life span of each of the peat burning stations at present; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The information requested on the production costs of each power station is available from the annual report and accounts published by the ESB and available in the Oireachtas Library. The residual life of each power station depends on a variety of factors including the economic life of adjoining bogs, relative fuel prices and possible major plant breakdown.
