In accordance with the provisions of the Local Government (Financial Provisions) Act, 1978, the determination of entitlement to rates relief is a matter in each case for the rating authority concerned. There is no provision for the issue of a Ministerial direction in the matter but the Act provides for an appeal by the rated occupier to the District Court against a decision of the rating authority.
