asked the Minister for Education if it is proposed to continue the 100 per cent funding of scoileanna lán-Gaelacha as heretofore; the amount to be so allocated in 1988; and her views on this policy in view of the position regarding capital programmes for construction of gnáth bunscoileanna in 1988.

There are no proposals to depart from the policy of offering to recognised scoileanna náisiúnta lán-Ghaelacha in non-Gaeltacht areas 100 per cent grants towards the capital cost of providing sites and permanent accommodation to serve their long term needs. Grants to such schools towards the cost of temporary accommodation, or of improvements to existing accommodation, will as heretofore be subject to payment of a negotiable local contribution.
The overall capital allocation in 1988 for buildings for scoileanna náisiúnta lán-Ghaelacha has not yet been decided. I am in a position to say, however, that sufficient capital will be allocated in 1988 as a matter of priority for continuing grant payments to a number of these schools which in the coming year will be either still under construction or at final account stage.
