The most recent information available on dairy cow numbers relates to the situation on 1 June 1987 when there was an estimated 1,526,800 dairy cows in the country. The comparable estimate for 1 June 1986 is 1,582,400.
The estimate for 1 June 1987 is still provisional and may be revised shortly when more final figures become available.
