Vol. 376 No. 10

Written Answers. - County Sligo Water Scheme.

65.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he has received a proposal from Sligo County Council for a new water scheme at Riverstown, County Sligo, to eliminate the very serious pollution that exists for a number of years; the cost of the scheme; if it is his intention to provide the necessary funds for the scheme; and when.

69.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will make the necessary finance available immediately to Sligo County Council for the replacement of the existing water scheme for Riverstown, County Sligo and surrounding area, which for the past number of years has been the subject of very serious pollution for which the county council now have a solution.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 65 and 69 together. A preliminary report for a proposed Riverstown water supply scheme was recently submitted to my Department and is under examination at present. The question of providing finance for the scheme does not arise at this stage.
