The absenteeism control programme operated by the Irish Productivity Centre in 1986 was primarily focused on the creation of an awareness in both management and workers of the need for absenteeism controls and the social and economic effects of absenteeism.
I understand that a number of companies and organisations in the public and private sectors have introduced absenteeism control programmes. However, the resources are not available to obtain full statistical information on reductions in absenteeism arising from the Irish Productivity Centre programme.
