Vol. 377 No. 1

Written Answers. - Trade Marks.

168.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce when he intends to introduce legislation to provide for the registration of trade marks relating to services promised in his reply to Parliamentary Question No. 22 of 21 May, 1987.

Consultations with the various interested organisations about the nature and details of legislation providing for the registration of service marks have recently been completed.

In the light of these consultations proposals as to the scope and content of the legislation are being prepared for consideration by the Government.

At this stage it is not possible to indicate with any precision, when the legislation is likely to be introduced. The measure is expected to be a complex one and allowance must be made for resource constraints in its preparation.
