Vol. 377 No. 1

Written Answers. - Roscommon County Hospital Funding.

266.

asked the Minister for Health if he had any objection during 1987 to the Western Health Board allocating the necessary finances to bring Roscommon County Hospital up to a 100 bed acute medical and surgical unit; and his views on whether any such decision is a matter solely for the Western Health Board.

267.

asked the Minister for Health if he has any objection to the Western Health Board allocating from its financial allocation for 1988 the necessary funding to provide 100 acute medical and surgical beds at Roscommon County Hospital.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 266 and 267 together. The bed provision at Roscommon County Hospital in 1987 was 30 psychiatric beds and 70 general acute beds. This provision is consistent with my Department's policy regarding the provision of general acute beds in the Western Health Board area.
