Vol. 377 No. 7

Written Answers. - County Dublin School.

92.

asked the Minister for Education whether the special fund for school building announced in the budget will be used to provide a national school at Ballyogan, Carrickmines, County Dublin; and if she can name a date by which this school will be provided.

My Department have had under consideration and periodic review an application from the local parochial authorities for grant-aid to build a new national school to serve the Ballyogan area of County Dublin. My understanding is, however, that suitable facilities are available in existing national schools in adjacent localities to service the present demands of the Ballyogan area for primary school services.

A further review of the needs of the Ballyogan area is at present in progress. As soon as this review is completed, I shall inform the Deputy of the outcome.

The additional capital allocation for primary school building announced in the 1988 budget is designed to enable my Department to give priority to schools where it is accepted that there are acute problems of accommodation.
