In the Adjournment Debate on 4 June 1987 I indicated to the House that the Commissioners of Public Works and I, with the consent of the Minister for Finance, would be prepared to consider entrusting this property to a responsible body wishing to acquire the building for the purpose of adapting it as a museum or cultural centre. Promising preliminary inquiries and outline proposals have been received and I am hopeful that a suitable proposal can be firmed up and brought to fruition.
