asked the Minister for Finance if he has any plans to convert the wasteful and polluting turf burning station in Kildare Street, Dublin 2, to a more efficient system; the cost of such a change-over; and the buildings which are affected.

The Commissioners of Public Works intend to convert to natural gas the turf burning station at Kildare Place. The work will be done during the coming summer at an estimated cost of £400,000.

The converted station will service the following buildings: Leinster House Complex; Government Buildings; Department of Agriculture; Department of Industry and Commerce and Department of Tourism and Transport, Kildare Street; National Art Gallery; Natural History Museum; National Library; National Museum; College of Science.
