About 45 per cent of the country has been surveyed under the national soil survey. Work has been completed and results published with respect to eight counties and parts of two other counties. Surveys also have been completed but the results have not been published for two counties and parts of two others.
Decisions regarding the compilation and publication of completed survey work or the extension of the survey to remaining counties or areas are matters for An Foras Talúntais. The normal practice is to publish research findings following the completion of surveys and the compilation of the appropriate data.
