Vol. 379 No. 1

Written Answers. - Revenue Social Club.

73.

asked the Minister for Finance the steps which have been taken to recover arrears of VAT due from the operations of the Revenue Social Club in North Great George's Street, Dublin 1; the persons who are liable to have their goods seized in execution to realise the amounts due and whether the matter has been put in the hands of the Sheriff; whether disciplinary inquiries are being made into the nonpayment of VAT to the State; and whether legal notices have been received as to the liability of (a) the committee of management of the club and (b) the members of the club in respect of outstanding taxes.

I have been informed by the Revenue Commissioners that the confidentiality obligations imposed on them preclude the disclosure of information regarding the tax affairs of a particular taxpayer.

The Office of the Revenue Commissioners has no official links with the Revenue Social Club which is under private control. Civil servants serving in that Office are included in their private capacities, with other public service employees in the club's membership.
