Vol. 379 No. 6

Written Answers. - Dublin New Vocational School.

290.

asked the Minister for Education the current status of the proposal to build a new vocational/ community school in the Quarryvale-Balgaddy area of Dublin 20: if, pending the completion of this school, she has any plans to upgrade the facilities at St. Kevin's vocational school in Lucan, County Dublin which is at present being used on an interim basis; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

St. Kevin's community college, under the aegis of County Dublin VEC, caters for the north Clondalkin areas of Quarryvale and Balgaddy. The school opened in temporary accommodation in September 1986 and is at present housed in the old vocational school, Lucan. I am not aware of any need to upgrade the facilities available in the old vocational school, Lucan; in this regard and with regard to the provision of new buildings for St. Kevin's community college I would refer the Deputy to my reply to Deputy Mitchell's question of Wednesday, 10 February 1988 (No. 88). The position remains unchanged.
