asked the Minister for Justice if he will report on the meeting that took place on 2 March 1988 between officials of the Attorney-General and those of the British Attorney-General; the progress which has been made in procedures being agreed to implement extradition arrangements between this State, Great Britain and Northern Ireland in accordance with the Extradition (Amendment) Act, 1987; and whether any such further meeting will take place.

asked the Minister for Justice if the dispute between the British and Irish Attorneys General over the implementation of safeguards under the Extradition (Amendment) Act, 1987, has been resolved.

It is proposed to answer Questions Nos. 27 and 34 together.

At the meeting referred to and at a further meeting which took place on 7 April, officials discussed the means by which the requirements of the Extradition (Amendment) Act, 1987, would be met. The matter at issue is still the subject of consideration.
