asked the Minister for Justice if he has received any requests for additional Garda manpower required in Tallaght Garda station, Dublin 24; in view of the crime level in the area and the absence of an adequate Garda presence by day and by night in many estates in Tallaght, if he will arrange to have the necessary additional manpower provided for this district as requested locally; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

As the Deputy is aware, the Garda strength for Tallaght has been the subject of a number of recent Parliamentary Questions, the most recent of which I replied to on 8 March 1988.
At present Garda strength at this station is 93.
I am informed by the Garda authorities that, having regard to overall resources and other demands on Garda services, it is not possible at present to further increase this strength. The matter is, however, being kept under continuing review.
