According to returns of operations under the Litter Act, 1982, furnished to my Department by local authorities in respect of the calendar year 1987, Cork Corporation brought 40 prosecutions and secured 30 convictions involving fines ranging from £30 to £100. Dublin Corporation brought 25 prosecutions and secured 23 convictions involving fines ranging from £10 to £500.
