Vol. 380 No. 2

Written Answers. - Cork Ear, Nose and Throat Services.

95.

asked the Minister for Health if he will give details of discussions held between his Department and the South Infirmary, Cork on the week beginning 21 March 1988 to discuss the crisis in ear, nose and throat services in the Cork area.

I am concerned about the length of waiting lists for ear, nose and throat services in the Cork area. My Department has recently approved the appointment of a registrar to the regional department at the South Infirmary-Victoria Hospital with effect from July next. Additional staff are being redeployed to the unit from within the hospital. The hospital has assured my Department that these measures will reduce waiting lists for ENT surgery considerably.
