In January 1987 the Government decided that a thorough review of policy in relation to planning and provision of new and replacement accommodation at primary and post-primary level be carried out jointly by the Departments of Education and Finance. This set the terms of reference for the review group which comprised seven members, five of whom are officials of the Department of Education and two of the Department of Finance.
The review group completed their report in March 1988 and their recommendations have been submitted to me for consideration. No interim report was made by the group.
