Vol. 380 No. 7

Written Answers. - County Donegal Housing Schemes.

112.

asked the Minister for the Environment if his attention has been drawn to the grave dissatisfaction of the families who live in the Lower Mount Marion housing scheme, Milford, County Donegal who were informed that remedial works would be carried out at their homes; in view of the serious defects and the urgency of having these matters dealt with and, in particular in view of the fact that Donegal County Council have submitted plans for repairs for the scheme to his Department over a year ago, if he will approve the application by the County Council and provide sufficient funds to have the remedial works carried out as soon as possible; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

An allocation of £100,000 has been made to the council under the remedial works scheme in respect of this Estate in 1988. Technical documentation for the proposal is being examined in the Department and a decision will be notified to the local authority in the near future.

113.

asked the Minister for the Environment when he intends to approve applications by Donegal County Council for the provision of housing schemes at Castlefin and St. Johnston, County Donegal which have been submitted by Donegal County Council.

Tender submissions for a 40 house scheme at Castlefin and an 11 house scheme at St. Johnston are currently under consideration in my Department. The Council will be notified of the outcome as soon as practicable.
