The information sought by the Deputy is not available. While the great bulk of the money currently being collected by the sheriffs relates to periods which come within the ambit of the incentive scheme, it would not be possible, in the absence of a detailed examination of each case in which an amount is collected in a particular bailiwick, to establish if payment of that amount entitled the defaulter to the benefit of the scheme. Resources could be committed to such an examination only at disproportionate cost.
