Vol. 382 No. 5

Written Answers. - Certificate of Naturalisation.

66.

asked the Minister for Justice the reason a person (details supplied) in County Wexford does not fulfil the statutory conditions for naturalisation provided for in section 15 of the Irish Nationality and Citizenship Act, 1956, as substituted by section 4 of the Irish Nationality and Citizenship Act, 1986, as per his reply to Parliamentary Question No. 84 of 8 June 1988.

The grant of a certificate of naturalisation is made at the discretion of the Minister for Justice and it has been the practice of successive Ministers for Justice not to disclose precise reasons for refusing the grant of such a certificate in any particular case. I do not intend to depart from that practice and accordingly I do not propose to elaborate on the reply given to Question No. 84 of 8 June 1988.
