Mr. Durkan

asked the Minister for Justice the number and category of reported crimes in the various towns of North County Kildare during the past three years; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The information sought by the Deputy is readily available only in relation to Garda sub-districts. The statistics of recorded indictable crime for 1985 and 1986 and the provisional figures for 1987 are set out in attached tabular statement in respect of the sub-districts of Naas, Celbridge, Clane, Kill, Maynooth, Rathcoole and Lucan.

It will be noted that the level of recorded indictable crime in the Garda District of Naas shows a reduction of 6 per cent for 1986 compared with 1985 and a further reduction of 23 per cent for 1987 compared with 1986.
