Vol. 382 No. 9

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

69.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if his Department has received an application from Roscommon Livestock Mart for FEOGA grants for improvements to the mart; the amount of grants sought; and, in view of the importance of this livestock mart to Roscommon, when the grants will be approved.

An application by Roscommon Livestock Mart for FEOGA aid was received by my Department in June 1987 and was forwarded to the EC Commission with the Department's full support. The level of FEOGA aid for the project is a matter for the EC Commission. While no grant has yet been approved the application will be eligible for further consideration by the EC Commission in December 1988 and again in June and December 1989.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a grant under the farm installation aid scheme will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry.

Before eligibility under the scheme of installation aid for young farmers can be determined, a detailed investigation of each application must be carried out. In this case the investigation has not yet been completed. If the applicant is found to be eligible, payment of the premium will be made as soon as practicable and I will inform the Deputy at the appropriate time.

All premiums are paid strictly in the order in which eligibility is established. Payments are being phased in such a way as to ensure adherence to the amount provided in the Vote. Consequently, there is some delay in payment of the premiums.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will arrange to have a farm improvement grant paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny where all works have been inspected and passed for some time.

A claim under the farm improvement programme for payment of a grant of £5,933 has been received and will be paid as soon as practicable. All claims under the programme are dealt with strictly in order of receipt. Payments are being phased in such a way as to ensure adherence to the amount provided in the Vote. Consequently, there is some delay in making grant payments.

A grant under the farm improvement programme is being processed with a view to payment if everything is found to be in order. All claims under the programme are dealt with strictly in order to receipt. Payments are being phased in such a way as to ensure adherence to the amount provided in the Vote. Consequently, there is some delay in making grant payments.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a farm improvement grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Sligo; and the reason for the delay in this case.

Two claims under the farm improvement programme for payment of grants totalling £1,326 have been received and will be paid as soon as practicable. All claims under the programme are dealt with strictly in order of receipt. Payments are being phased in such a way as to ensure adherence to the amount provided in the Vote. Consequently, there is some delay in making grant payments.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when payment of a farm installation grant will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Waterford.

The person mentioned did not submit an application prior to the termination of the original scheme of installation aid for young farmers on 31 March 1987.

As announced in the budget, installation aid for young farmers is being reintroduced and it is my intention that the new aid should be back-dated to the termination of the original scheme. Details of the new scheme will be announced very shortly. Applications will be invited from intending participants whose eligibility will then be assessed.
