asked the Minister for the Environment the reason the application of Ennis Urban District Council for designation under the Urban Renewal Act, 1986, has not been agreed by his Department; and if he will outline the conditions under which he will grant this proposal.
Designation under the Urban Renewal Act, 1986 does not involve an application from the urban area concerned, but is affected directly by order of the Minister for the Environment with the consent of the Minister for Finance.
I am aware of the case made by Ennis Urban District Council and by certain other urban councils, for designated area status. I have no proposals for the designation of areas additional to those already announced.
