Vol. 383 No. 1

Written Answers. - Edenderry (County Offaly) Vocational School.

346.

asked the Minister for Education if, in view of the urgent need for additional accommodation at Edenderry vocational school, County Offaly, moneys will be made available from the 1989 Estimates to carry out the necessary extension to this school; and the plans she has for improving the accommodation at this school during the 1988-89 school year.

My Department have approved the provision of a major extension to Edenderry vocational school at an estimated cost of £1.35 million. Architectural planning is at the bills of quantities stage. The next stage is the seeking of tenders.

This project will be reviewed in the context of the capital resources available for second level building projects in 1989. In the meantime, my Department has recently sanctioned funding for necessary upgrading works and prefabricated classroom replacements for the school.
