Vol. 383 No. 1

Written Answers. - Ashbourne (County Meath) School.

354.

asked the Minister for Education if she will indicate the progress that has been made in regard to the proposed second level school at Ashbourne, County Meath, since her reply to Question No. 224 of Tuesday, 8 December 1987; if she will indicate if it still is her policy that there should be no undue delay by her Department in this regard; and if she considers that there has been undue delay since 8 December 1987 in solving the problems arising from the proposed by-pass of Ashbourne, which might involve some incursion on the proposed site for the second level school.

I do not consider that there has been undue delay on the part of my Department in the resolution of the problem associated with the proposed by-pass.

In the intervening period, Meath County Council, the Department of the Environment and my Department have reached agreement on this matter.

It is still my intention to continue with the planning of the community school project.

Its rate of progress, however, as in the case of all second level building projects, is dependent on the availability of capital resources and on my Department's other commitments and priorities.
