Under the Radio and Television Act, 1988, it is the statutory responsibility of the Independent Radio and Television Commission to arrange for the provision of an independent television programme service in accordance with the provisions of that Act. I have no statutory function in the matter.
It is the intention that the new programme service will be distributed using channel capacity on existing cable television systems and on MMDS systems to be licensed shortly.
