Vol. 383 No. 4

Written Answers. - Wexford Social Welfare Office Improvements.

107.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the work which he intends to carry out in order to afford privacy to claimants using the social welfare officer at Anne Street, Wexford; and the time-scale for these works to be completed.

I am fully committed to providing a high level of privacy for the benefit of all applicants attending at employment exchanges of my Department. However in the employment exchange in Wexford there is at present insufficient space available to improve the privacy facility to what is considered to be an acceptable level at that office. To remedy the problem the Office of Public Works, who are responsible for accommodation at Government Offices, are examining proposals to make more space available for employment exchange staff on another floor of the building at Anne Street, Wexford. If this proves to be feasible, structural alterations to upgrade the quality of privacy for claimants availing themselves of the Department's services in the public sector of the employment exchange will be carried out at the earliest possible date.
