Vol. 383 No. 7

Written Answers. - Kerry Roadway.

89.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will consider proposals submitted by Kerry County Council to upgrade the roadway from Poulgorm Bridge at the junction of the Kenmare-Cork-Killarney road through Kilgarvan to Kenmare to link up with the national secondary road on the Ring of Kerry, in view of the unusually heavy traffic including articulated trucks, touring buses and other vehicular travel on this road; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The present classification of roads, which was determined following a lengthy process of consulation with local authorities, is now generally regarded as established. My Department has examined the case for the upgrading of the route referred to by the Deputy and has concluded that reclassification is not warranted.
